4 lb(s) Pork Shoulder or Butt
2 tbsp(s) Oil (optional if searing)
1 tbsp(s) Brown Sugar
1 tbsp(s) Chili Powder
1 tsp(s) Onion Powder
1 tsp(s) Garlic Powder
1 tsp(s) Cumin
1 tsp(s) Kosher Salt
1 tsp(s) Black Pepper
12 oz(s) Coke (not diet)
Barbecue Sauce for Coating Meat Optional
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, kosher salt, and black pepper.
3. If searing the pork, heat oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from heat and set aside.
4. In a large slow cooker, combine Coke and the spice mixture. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
5. Add the pork to the slow cooker and coat with the Coke and spice mixture.
