28 oz(s) Can Whole Tomatoes
2 tsp(s) Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
2 Garlic Cloves
1/2 tsp(s) Sea Salt
Cornmeal
1 lb(s) Pizza Dough
8 oz(s) Fresh Mozzarella Cheese, sliced
Fresh Basil Leaves to taste
Red Pepper Flakes to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 550°F (290°C) with a pizza stone inside, if you have one.
2. In a large mixing bowl, crush the whole tomatoes with your hands or a spoon until they're broken down and juicy.
3. Add the olive oil, minced garlic, and sea salt to the bowl with the tomatoes and stir to combine.
4. Dust a pizza peel or a piece of parchment paper with cornmeal.
5. Roll out the pizza dough (store bought or homemade) to your desired thickness, about 1/4 inch, on a floured surface.
6. Transfer the dough to the prepared pizza peel or parchment paper.
7. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.
8. Top the pizza with thinly sliced mozzarella cheese.
9. Sprinkle a few fresh basil leaves on top of the cheese.
10. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes on top of the pizza for a spicy kick.
