Ingredients
1 lb(s) Flat-Iron Steak, cut into 1/4 inch strips
1/4 cup(s) Soy Sauce
1/4 cup(s) Shaoxing Wine (Chinese Rice Wine) or Dry Sherry
2 tsp(s) Cornstarch
1/4 cup(s) Oyster Sauce
1/3 cup(s) Low- Sodium Chicken Broth
1 tbsp(s) Sugar
1 tsp(s) Asian/Toasted Sesame Oil
4 Scallions, whites finely sliced, greens cut into 1/2 inch segments
3 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 tbsp(s) Fresh Ginger, finely minced
3 tbsp(s) Vegetable Oil
1 lb(s) Broccoli Florets
1/3 cup(s) Water
Rice for serving
Sesame Seeds for Garnish (optional) to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, Shaoxing wine (or dry sherry), cornstarch, oyster sauce, low-sodium chicken broth, sugar, Asian/toasted sesame oil, and minced ginger.
2. Cut the beef: Cut the flat-iron steak into 1/4-inch strips.
3. Marinate the beef: Place the beef strips in a large zip-top plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the beef, turning to coat evenly. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1 hour or room temperature for 30 minutes.
4. Prepare the broccoli: Cut the broccoli florets into 1/3-inch pieces.
5. Heat the oil: Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
6. Cook the beef: Remove the beef from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Add the beef to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
7. Cook the broccoli: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the broccoli, garlic, and scallion whites to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender but still crisp.
8. Stir-fry the broccoli and beef: Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and stir to combine with the broccoli and scallions.
9. Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli over rice. Garnish with scallion greens and serve with soy sauce, if desired. Enjoy!
